Take up the RTN challenge: What will YOU do to stop violence against women?

On Wednesday 29 September some of Oxford's best peformers launched the Reclaim the Night campaign: What will YOU do to stop violence against women? Join the Reclaim the Night March and Rally on 22 October. 6.30pm at the Sheldonian (women and children's march). 8.30pm at Ruskin (men welcome!). Info: rtn.oxford@gmail.com.   1. will challenge my friends and colleagues about rape jokes – they’re just not funny.
  2. If a friend is affected by domestic abuse I will ask how I can help.
  3. I will always challenge people I know who condone or excuse violence against women.
  4. I will talk to my local councillor and MP about cuts to services that support women affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence.
  5. I will donate to Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre www.oxfordrapecrisis.net
  6. I will help girls in my life to be confident about their bodies and their rights, and boys to respect women and know that real men don’t hurt women.
  7. I will not buy magazines that present women and girls as sexual objects.
  8. I will not blame the victims of sexual abuse and violence and start blaming the perpetrators – no one ever asks for it.
  9. As a man who supports Reclaim the Night I will go to the rally on 22 October and bring my friends.
  10. As a woman who supports Reclaim the Night I will go to the march on 22 October – and bring my friends.
